SpunqDaddy's Beard - End of our Advocate?

About End of our Advocate?

Previous Entry End of our Advocate? Apr. 2nd, 2008 @ 10:09 am Next Entry
Thank goddess - our Advocate subscription seems to have ran out. At least, it didn't show up this week or last. And I guess it may still arrive late in its little gray wrapper. They wrap it like that because they're still too shy, or maybe because they were embarrassed by how lame it is.

After the last cover story on the straight dude who wouldn't play the bottom gay/bi character in Brokeback, I vowed never to buy another copy of that piece of crap. This is what passes for a national gay and lesbian (forget the BTI folks) national magazine?

Compare it with Details, where the content is so rich and the advert/editorial ratio is awesome. Maybe we could get Conde Nast to start a real queer national newsmagazine.

Neither my partner nor myself recall maintaining a subscription to the Advocate, yet it keeps coming. To both of us. About a week apart.

You can stop the wrapping by going to the site on the wrapper. They will bag it when they send the Advocate along with Out Traveller, though.

I think it's been three or four years that these keep coming. It was just my partner and we tried to stop it but then somehow they started coming for me too, so we just acquiesce and keep a copy in each bathroom.

Crap. Dave, you and Alonso are the only great things going for it. I'll have to look for it on the shelves at the Waterford Borders.
